ABOUT
Driving the Daisies is a female driven, six part limited series (dramedy musical), that explores what it’s like to lose independence and have to rely on others as we age. I sat down and wrote this show during Covid. It is inspired by two of the most important people in my life, my grandparents. I had the honor of taking care of them as a 24/7 caretaker when their bodies began to break down. While caretaking, I realized there was ALOT to learn and so many things I didn’t understand that I had to gain a grasp on, and quickly. My grandmother had really bad Parkinson’s that took away her physical body. My grandfather had dementia that was eating away at his memories and bodily functions. I was obtaining as much information as I could to keep them safe and to make their lives as comfortable as possible on the fly.
I wrote Driving the Daisies as a love letter to caretakers everywhere going through what I went through and for those going through the aging process right now. Driving the Daisies gives a voice to the voiceless and helps them to feel included.
What makes this show different you ask? Well, it is women driven. The majority of the cast and crew are from right here in the Pacific Northwest. The show handles real issues of aging and focuses primarily on the older generations as the leads. The music is made up of original compilations. We utilize humor and music to break up the seriousness of the situations and to keep the audience engaged.
Driving the Daisies can be described as On Golden Pond meets All in the Family meets Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
